4. Digital Herbarium
Our website offers an optional "Digital Herbarium" that lets you collect plants by scanning QR codes at the exhibition beds. You only use this feature if you actively start it.
What is stored?
When you start your herbarium, we generate a random, anonymous access code (format "FLR-XXXX"). So that you can find your collection again on a later visit, we store:
- a functional first-party cookie
herb_pass(valid for 1 year) that contains only this access code, and - an entry in your browser's local storage (
flora-herbarium) with the code and the plants you have collected.
On our server we store, linked to the code, only the collected plants and technical details (device type, language) without any personal reference. No account is required; we do not collect a name or email address and do not store an IP address for this purpose.
Legal basis
The cookie and the local storage are technically necessary to provide the service you have expressly requested (your personal herbarium). Storage is therefore based on § 25 (2) no. 2 TTDSG; processing relies on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the functionality of this feature). No separate consent is required.
Your control
You can delete the cookie and the local storage at any time via your browser settings. Afterwards your previous herbarium can no longer be accessed on this device unless you have noted down the access code.
Optional emailing of the code
On request, you can have your access code sent to you by email. Your email address is used solely to send this single message and is not stored.
